What are your international news/opinion sources?

Tue Feb 15, 2005 at 03:15:48 PM PDT

No profound thoughts or cathartic rants herein. All I want to know is what sources for international news &/or opinion do you regularly use? BBC? CBC? Times of India? Zmag.org? What makes your choice(s) stand out apart from all of the other sources out there?

Does each U.S. region have a seperate conception of faith?

Sat Nov 13, 2004 at 10:44:01 PM PDT

There have been many diaries exploring the philosophic examinations of Christian faith in the "red" and "blue" states to gain the trust of voters. But what if each region has its own specific ideal of expressing faith? I think most people would accept that in the Northeast, it seems to be expressed through "good works" (i.e., providing equitable services to the poor and less fortunate regardless of their faith) and introspective, private worship. But the South seems to prefer extroverted expressions of belief and fidelity to God and uses limited "good works" to convert non-believers. Assuming my summation of the regions is correct (and if not, PLEASE correct), is the Southwest's ideal toward faith closer to the Northeast's, South's, or different? And what about the Midwest? and West Coast?

Hurricane Charley, Najaf & Global Warming

Thu Aug 12, 2004 at 08:09:26 PM PDT

As a native of Tampa Bay, I've been blessed to see few hurricanes during my brief lifetime. We normally don't take warnings or watches seriously since the storms inevitably change course and hit the east coast of Florida, or southern Louisiana or Texas. But this one is causing a frentic panic, one whose effects may reach across an ocean.
